Delegation of the University of East Sarajevo comprised of professor Sandra Ivanovic, Coordinator of the University for relations with Chinese universities and professor Bojana Pavlovic, Head of the Department of Synology at the Faculty of Philosophy of UES took part in 16 + 1 Summit of China and Central and Southeast European Countries, held in Ningbo, China from 8 June to 12 June 2018. In addition to the mentioned countries, about 100 members from Asia, Africa and Australia participated as well.
The Summit also hosted conferences on higher education, the Business Forum of the Alliance “New Silk Road” and the fair of 16 + 1 Universities.
Within the framework of the conference on higher education, representatives of the University of East Sarajevo agreed on the implementation of an exchange program between universities in China and UES. In this regard, in the coming period, students of the Serbian language from three Chinese universities would stay at the Faculty of Philosophy of UES.
The UES delegation also agreed on concrete steps related to the participation in joint projects including UES, universities from the European Union and the People’s Republic of China.
Within the Business Forum of the Alliance “New Silk Road”, where UES is one of the founders, it was discussed about realization of the projects that were submitted last year during the stay of our delegation at the First Business Forum, and they were related to the creation of a joint online platform with over 150 members from thirty countries.
The Fair of the Universities of China and South East European Countries was held within the Summit, with more than 300 universities taking part, and a special honor was given to the representatives of the University of East Sarajevo who were given the opportunity to present our University for the first time. During the fair, at the stand of UES, the delegation also presented the tourist potentials of Republic of Srpska.
In the last three years, the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of East Sarajevo made significant progress in international cooperation, and thanks to the activities of the Department of Synology, the Faculty of Philosophy of UES once again confirmed, at this eminent gathering, its leading position in the whole region when it comes to cooperation with PR of China. Thanks to that, the University of East Sarajevo itself became, according to the correspondent from BiH of the National Chinese Agency SINHUA, “the brightest point of overall cooperation between BiH and the People’s Republic of China”.
