University Representatives on a Visit to the Russian Federation

The Rector of the University of East Sarajevo, Prof. Dr. Milan Kulić, and the Vice-Rector for International Cooperation and Quality Assurance, Prof. Dr. Marko Gutalj, visited the Ministry of Science and Education of the Russian Federation, where they were welcomed by the Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education, Konstantin Mogilevsky.

At the working meeting held at the Russian Ministry on January 25, the Ambassador of the University of East Sarajevo, Aleksandar Borisov, the Rector of the University of Banja Luka, Prof. Dr. Radislav Gajanin, representatives of the Republic of Srpska Representation in the Russian Federation, and a Russian delegation consisting of five rectors from prestigious Russian universities were also present.

The meeting positively assessed the results of bilateral cooperation achieved over the past two years since the last meeting between the Serbian and Russian sides at this level. All planned goals and achievements in the areas of student and teacher exchanges, as well as the study and popularization of the Russian language, were realized.

The focus of the meeting was on plans for the upcoming period, such as increasing student exchanges and expanding scientific research projects to be supported by both ministries.

It was noted that the Representation of the Russian Historical Society has started to function successfully based on the Institute of Historical Sciences at the University of East Sarajevo. Scientific conferences have been organized to counter the falsification of history, and this work will continue, as it is of particular importance ahead of the commemoration of a significant date for both Russians and Serbs – the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory over Nazism.

During the working meeting, Rector Kulić and Rector of Samara State Technical University, Prof. Dr. Dmitry Bykov, signed a Cooperation Agreement between the two higher education institutions and expressed their belief that this marks the beginning of a productive bilateral and mutually beneficial collaboration.

The delegation from the Republic of Srpska informed their Russian friends that the President of the Republic of Srpska and the relevant ministry provide unconditional support for intensifying the cooperation between the two friendly nations.

Rector Kulić Attends the 270th Anniversary of Lomonosov University

After the meeting at the Ministry of Science and Education of the Russian Federation, Rector of the University of East Sarajevo Prof. Dr. Milan Kulić and Vice-Rector for International Cooperation and Quality Assurance Prof. Dr. Marko Gutalj attended the celebration of the 270th anniversary of Lomonosov University at the Kremlin, which also provided an opportunity for networking with partners from the Russian Federation.

Among the invitees at the Lomonosov University anniversary were 300 university rectors from over 45 countries, ambassadors, and other diplomatic mission representatives.

Lomonosov University was established by the decree of Empress Elizabeth Petrovna in 1755 and is the oldest classical university in Russia. Today, it is Russia’s leading educational, scientific, and cultural center, with more than 50,000 students from all over the world.
