Student enrollment

Admission to all three cycles of studies at the University of East Sarajevo is guaranteed based on equality and a public competition.

Access to the first cycle of studies is open to individuals who have completed a four-year high school in the Republic of Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as those who have completed high school abroad. Students who completed high school abroad must have their diplomas recognized by the relevant Ministry. Exceptions to this requirement apply to diplomas from the Republic of Serbia, based on the Agreement on Mutual Recognition of Educational Documents and the Regulation of the Status of Students (Official Gazette of the RS, No. 79/05).

Admission to the second cycle of studies, worth 60 ECTS credits, is available to those who have completed the first cycle of relevant academic studies and earned at least 240 ECTS credits. Admission to the second cycle, worth 120 ECTS credits, is for those who have completed the first cycle with at least 180 ECTS credits.

Admission to the third cycle of studies is available to:

  • Individuals who have completed second-cycle academic studies or integrated studies with at least 300 credits and an average grade of at least 8.00 in both the first and second cycles, proficiency in a foreign language, and fulfillment of other conditions set by faculty/academy regulations, depending on the scientific field.
  • Individuals who previously completed postgraduate master’s studies, with an average grade of at least 8.00, proficiency in a foreign language, and fulfillment of other conditions set by faculty/academy regulations.
  • Individuals whose previous degree has been recognized as equivalent to a degree obtained after completing the second cycle of studies, with an average grade of at least 8.00, proficiency in a foreign language, and fulfillment of other conditions set by faculty/academy regulations.

The Senate of the University, based on proposals from the faculties/academies, approves the enrollment plan for students in the next academic year for the first and second cycles, with budget and co-financing status. The final number of students with budget and co-financing status for the first and second cycles is determined by the Government of the RS. The Senate of the University also determines the number of self-financed students, part-time students, and foreign nationals for the first, second, and third cycles of studies.

The University announces a public competition for enrollment in study programs, which includes conditions for entrance exams or tests of aptitude and ability. Special conditions for the competition are also published.
